THIS IS HOW PRETTY LYNETTE AIKA IS

Happened On: October 29, 2010, Friday

Written On: October 30, 2010, Saturday
Start 11:10pm

Let me start this blog by giving a little information about myself, I hate waiting, I hate being late, and I hate the feeling of being alone and waiting for someone.

Let’s start.

I and Aika always go out almost every weekend, may it be for a coffee, movie or just to hang out. It seems like my week is incomplete without a date with her. Maybe because she, out of the very few friends of mine, makes comfortable sharing almost everything that is happening in my life.

Here’s the story.

We set this Friday for a moviedate (till my heartaches end). We both got excited because it had been a long time since we had our coffee together.

Because it is the feast of Sto. Entierro (Apung Mamacalulu in Pampango), our administration in work declared a half day. Hurray! Fortunately, Aika also texted me that she might be leaving work at around 3:00 pm. Perfect.

Because of the enrolment of freshmen that day, we extended until 4:00pm. On the other hand, Aika informed me that she’ll wait for her boss to come, if his boss did not show-up after 5:00 pm, and then we’ll meet.

I went home and took a rest, waiting for Aika’s go signal. I became bored, that’s why I went to the bank (that is walking distance from our home) to withdraw my salary, besides it’s payday (haha). After, I went to a convenience store to hang out while still waiting for her go signal.

Then a text came, saying that she can’t make it at our meeting time (which is supposed to be 5pm) and will be available at around 7pm. WTF?! This is intolerable, but I don’t why I agreed to wait for her for 2 more hours. Fine, I went home to get a book and decided to wait for her in a coffee shop while reading the book I got from home.

I went to Marquee Mall through a tricycle which is overpriced. There in the mall, there’s a sale of Crocs foot wear (good thing). But unfortunately, too many people in the sale and old style items on sale, exhausted me more from a long day of work.

I went in the section were new items are placed (without discount), and viola! I just saw myself leaving the store, holding a shopping bag with a footwear inside, and had almost all of my salary spent. See? This is what happens when I’m alone in a mall. (haha)

After the shopping-ambush incident, I went straight to a coffee shop. With my favorite frappe, my iPOD on, and a new book, now I’m all set to forget my unreasonable expenses and wait for the very beautiful Aika. Haha

Atlast, the most beautiful person in the world arrived. Haha

We had a small talk about our day, and left the coffee shop while being amazed with the costumed waiters of TGI Friday’s.

We cancelled the movie because she already watched it and I’m not even interested to see it (good thing.haha). So we walked around the mall looking for a perfect dinner spot (we deserve some good food!). The roads led us to Yellow Cab, because she’s not only beautiful, she’s also rich, she treat me with Charlie Chan Pasta and Pizza. To compensate with her treat, I gave her star gaycee. Hahahahaha. I felt so stupid walking across the mall bringing flowers (see how beautiful she is??haha).

The conversation after the meal (3 slices of pizza each and plate of pasta, see how hungry we were?), was priceless. I missed her and our conversation so much that I forgot how beautiful she was (lol).

She forced me to come at Baden’s party and a street party even though I have a stomachache (ouch). Then again, after a long negotiation, I agreed to come with her (superb beauty). We went to the street party first to meet Bhej (my good friend from college). In the street party, we stole attention because of the flower she was holding. In front of a church, a guy even played a prank on us. She’s very pretty for the nth time. Haha

After meeting Bhej, we went to Baden’s house, meet our friends, and went back to the street party. We had a drink on Bhej’s cousin’s stall, just two pitchers of beer.

Indicated in the negotiation is that I’ll go home early. I started my day at 7am and it’s about 11pm that night that I got tired, perhaps I deserve some rest right?haha That’s why went home and finish this very long day.

This is one day that will always be remembered. After a long week of work and stress, nothing beats unwinding in the weekends. The point is, with the quality of her company, she will always be worth the wait.

WATERMELON LIES

Start:12:23am

Earlier, this afternoon, I committed my first accident on wheels.

We were distributing letters for our foundation day (inviting high school students to participate in our competitons), well that’s a part of my job description now, which is in the field of marketing. Our route is in the vicinity of nearby municipalities such as Mexico and Arayat.

The trip went out so good, though we missed some schools because they are having semester break, somehow, 50% of our target was achieved.

In our marketing trips, we have this term called “sidetrips”, where we go out of our routes. For example, there is this bakeshop where they serve delicious and cheap egg pie, we should not suppose to go there because it’s out of our route, but we did.

This time, our driver saw a plantation and a store of watermelons; he became curious so he parked our service along the way, placing it on hazard. I and my companion (who is a teacher in the same institution) is having this short conversation…then, “BANG”! A motorcycle bumped our service’s driver’s door. After, he slipped and crash on the highway.

Luckily, no one got hurt. Minimal damage was done on our service. On the road, I am thinking, whose fault is it? Primarily, it’s on the motorcycle guy’s end, we were parked well and our service was on hazard.

But I thought, we were supposed to be on an official business trip, is buying watermelon included on that business trip? If we are not parked there, maybe the motorcycle guy would not bumped us.

I raised this issue on our driver. I have a point right? It’s not that I’m a fault finder, but he must learn his lesson.

But here’s what’s wrong about our driver, he is a good company: lots of stories to tell and has a good humor. Pero makitid ang kanyang utak (narrow minded), after I told him my analysis of the accident, he rendered me an awkward silence. He always do that, hindi ka niya kakausapin at papansinin pag may kang nasabi na ayaw niya.

It’s given, it’s not a part of his job to talk to me all the time, but I don’t want that uneasiness linger between the two of us, especially we will be working together often.

So that this argument will end, I just told my boss that we parked because we have to urinate. See? I have to lie so that I won’t hurt someone’s feeling. That’s very Filipino, and very inappropriate. Sigh.

Pakikisama and all that is making me sick, sana nakisama din siya diba?

A quotation from Mean Girls, a movie:

There are two types of evil people in the world, those who do evil stuffs and those who see evil stuffs and don’t do anything”.

Oh, now I know, I became evil just because I don’t want to hurt anyone. I don’t want to be hated, but I don’t also want to lie, just for a good impression. Apparently I did. I hope this is the last time that I will do that. Hmmm.

JUST BLANK STARES AND SOME SLIGHT SMILES

October 26, 2010
Start: 10:44am
Finish: 10:57am

I don’t know if I’m getting this correctly, or I am just overacting.

Though it’s not appropriate, I’ve been close with my advisory class before, I don’t know now. But recently, I’ve been closer with some other students from another class, and I also don’t know why, perhaps we all share the same interest.

Remember my “Not So Long Weekend” post?
I set up a sort of a closing party with my other students (not my advisory, which I first got closer to), maybe because this group are eager to throw a party with me. I’m waiting for my advisory class to approach me so that we can start planning for a closing party, but no one did.

I’ve posted the same blog on my facebook account where in almost all the groups of students mentioned are my friends, perhaps one or some of my advisory class read the blog.

I just had this feeling that depenetration stage is accommodating us, me and my advisory class, or perhaps, actually better, if I’m overacting or pre-emptying everything.

They (my advisory class) went to school this morning for their enrollment, I thought they would be excited to see me, because I am. But all I saw were just blank stares and some slight smiles. What’s wrong?

I’m not supposed to feel this way, this is very inappropriate. I guess it’s constant, profession and emotion must not intertwine. Sigh.

Coffee date later at 6pm with my friends and former college classmates Clang, Rj and Tal. Hope this would me make realize that I’m just really overacting on the situation.

THE RIGHT TO VOTE AND THE RIGHT NOT TO

Written on October 25, 2010
Start: 10:20pm
Finish: 11:13 pm

It’s barangay election today and my second time to practice my voting rights (the first one is on national election 2010). Since I was a child, all I wish for is for me to turn 18 so that I will become eligible to vote. But why I’m not that excited for this election? Here are the reasons:

  • The requirements to run for a post are very insubstantial. Almost everyone can run, even those who are not sincere in running for the post. Since running in barangay election is cheaper than in running for the national and local election, everyone who has the means can run. Kahit nga tambay tumatakbo eh, may promise pa sila, pagkatapos naman ng eleksyon makikita mulang sila sa daan, umiinom. Too many choices on whom to vote make me more convinced that I should not participate in this election.
  • This morning I saw a leaflet of a barangay councilor running in a barangay in Mabalacat, all I saw in the leaflet is his family tree, all the family surnames of his spouse down to her children and even with his in-laws. I think something’s missing. Where’s the platform? Or plans to improve the community? This shows that this election is just a popularity contest, sort of an American Idol, the popular wins.
  • How will you vote someone who is not even following the election rules? Oversized tarps, not following the alcohol ban and not to mention the vote buying, and surprisingly, no one gets disqualified. It’s just the start, but they are already cheating.

It’s near 12:00 noon when we arrived at our barangay to vote. But I made up my mind, I will abstain from voting. My uncle told me “Sayang ya ing botu (my vote will be wasted)”. Then I told him that if I voted someone who I don’t even know, then it is also tantamount in wasting my vote. So it’s just the same.

I hope next election, whether be local or national, my eagerness to be involve will resurrect, because I miss being excited when election comes.

MY NOT SO LONG WEEKEND

(Written on October 24, 2010 Start: 02:08pm Finished:3:59 pm)
(Happened on October 22 to 24, 2010)
(Villa Antonina Resort)

It’s announced, we will be having a long weekend. Hurray! October 25th (that’s Monday) this year was announced as holiday. For an employee like me, that’s one of the best thing the government could give: 3 straight days off, and it’s called long weekend. But why
did I tagged it as MY NOT SO LONG WEEKEND? Here’s the story.

The Plan

After the educational tour of my former-students-turned-friends, one of them (I forgot who he was) suggested that after the semester, we will be going out of town. The perfect ‘location for our getaway (and we all agreed on it) is Puerto Galera.

Puerto Galera is in the island of Mindoro where you can find a white sand beach and one hell of a night life. The fare and lodging is not that expensive that’s why we became so excited and start saving money for the said getaway.

Every night, me, Kat and Mam Chris exchange text messages having only one topic: Puerto Galera. I started texting Drei, Dane and Joiz (they are my friends from college, and they already went to Galera) to inquire on how much are we going to spend, how’s the beach and the night life, and stuffs like that. We were so damn excited for this trip. There’s no day that I won’t text the two for an update.

 Thanks To Juan

Alright, one more week to go and we’ll be experiencing Galera. Kat, Mam Chris and Orange already confirmed, Pao is still in the process of confirming, we have sufficient funds, in short, we are almost ready.

But here comes the news that a super typhoon will hit the country within the week of our trip. It’s ok, for sure the typhoon will pass soon and will not affect our trip, Here’s the double whammy, another typhoon is approaching the Philippines (what the f***?!).

Orange is the brink of backing out because of the weather condition, Pao is still not confirming, weather is bad. Can this trip push through?

 Plan C

We accepted the reality that nature won’t allow us. Now we resort to Plan B: Poracay

Resort. Poracay is a resort in Porac, Pampanga and became famous because of its low cost villas and fairly good fresh water swimming pools, the thing about this resort is that none in our group went there ( except for Kat, I’m not sure). So I inquired through net, the villa prices are really practical and place was quite good. But we thought that it will be inconvenient for us to reach the place without one of us having a car (see? We’re low profile.haha).

If Plan A was busted because of the typhoon, then Plan B did not materialized because of inconvenience, therefore, we proceeded to Plan C:Villa Antonina Resort (pu** naman oh.hahaha).

 The Real Deal

Friday
The day came, since our destination is proximate to everyone in the group. Choi, Orange and Pao immediately confirmed to come. Yehey! We are complete!

After my job, I went straight to SM Pampanga (ofcourse with my things) to meet Kat, Orange and Pao for us to buy food for our trip. Since we saved a lot of money for Galera, we had a lot of funds on our hand causing our push cart to be full of foods. Well I think that’s the advantage of Plan C (saganang sagana).

After the grocery (thanks to tolits for transpo that caused 200php), we went to Kat’s home for an overnight. We played cards, had a drink, and lots of pre-party fun. We even taught Mam Chris how to play poker.

Saturday
We woke up late, because others still have h.o and’ Orange has sore eyes. So we packed up and waited for tolits’ cab (worth 350, kamal na!).

Pao needs to go home for his father’s motorcade and go back after with Choi (afterall, e choi pa rin ing mesunud buri haha). We checked-in early that’s why we have to pay additional cost in our bill. That’s around 1pm and we still haven’t taken our lunch. Good thing Kuya Dennis came and brought steaming rice.

We had tocino (my favorite), tomato and salted egg, and chicharon for lunch. We all ate a lot using bare hands.

After the sumptuous lunch, it’s time to hit the pool. I and Orange went first, then everyone else followed. After, we played cards (me, Orange and Kat) while Kuya Dennis and Mam Chris belted high notes in the videoke.

Pao returned with Choi, and atlast we are complete! We went back in the pool to play, swim, trip on other guests and have short conversation. Haha

Then dinner time came, we had san marino tuna (courtesy of choi and pao), chicharon (orange’s), tocino left-overs (kat’s), tomato and salted egg. Surprisingly, Kuya Dennis’ rice is still hot. Thanks to the foil. Again, we ate a lot.haha

We went back in the pool. I and Pao had race using freestyle and backstroke. Mam Chris executed her “kaweng sto. tomas” and we had lots of fun.

Now it’s time to party. We played cards again and sung in the videoke. We drink and played our self-constructed game “nearest” and the one who loss will take the shot. We had a blast.

Suddenly Mam Chris received a text message from Kim, another student of mine, who had an accident nearby. I was saddened by the incident and wanted to help but I can’t. Fortunately, Kim is fine and did not get hurt.

Time to go to bed. I slept between Kat and Pao while watching one more chance on Kat’s phone. Kat reminded me that Pao is a hugger; he hugs anyone beside him (such a sweet boy). He reminded me of myself when I was still a kid.

Kuya Dennis is in the other bed, he’s between Choi and Orange (who’s scared, we don’t know why.haha) while Mam Chris slept solo in the small bed near the door.

I’m tipsy, yes I am, and that’s why I bumped my knee to the edge of the bed and bruised myself. It’s a little bit painful but on the lighter side, its scar will remind me how much fun I had everytime I look at it (this is sour graping.haha)

Sunday

Oh. It’s already the last day, if we all have the means, perhaps we’ll be extending at least another night to continue the fun.

We woke up late and didn’t have the chance to swim for the last time. I and Kat tried compromise to the resort admin for us to stay a little longer. But they’ve disagreed. They are just being fair and just doing their job, and we understand that. So it’s time to pack our bags and leave.

My Not So Long Weekend

Time is short when you are having fun, while it becomes long when you’re bored. All along this weekend I wish that it will be extended. But it came out that it is indeed a not so long weekend; simply because I had one hell of a fun. I reminded them (Kat, Choi, Orange and Pao) that we had a lots of fun because they had fairly good grades, and I also told them to study hard next semester so that we will be having another party, hopefully it will be somewhere far from Pampanga (haha).

These are some of the moments and people that/who are making me stay in my work a little longer. Till next time.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION
I’m not a bad influence. It’s sembreak, they are not enrolled in the school. So we don’t have any relations but friendship. They came with us with their freewill. We work hard and they studied well last semester, it's not that bad to reward ourselves with a party. Yes we play cards with money, but in very low bets. So it’s not gambling. haha We drink in moderation, just for fun. For those who will raise they’re eyebrows in this blog, please read the whole entry before reacting.

4-Alpha- We'll set ours separately. See you next semester.

We only have two group pictures. This is one of the two. Photo Credits: Kuya Dennis and Orange.

My First Shot: THE ACADEME

It seems like yesterday when I was rushing to finish college and try to conquer the real world. Now I’m writing this journal, documenting my first fulltime job.

MY FIRST DAYS AS SIR PAUL
I was supposed to venture in the call center industry since I’ve graduated with a degree in Mass Communication, wherein somehow interpersonal communication is practiced. However, I didn’t find the routinely activity of a call center agent to be a subject of intellectual growth. That’s why I’ve accepted the post of full-time faculty of Clark Polytechnic, even though I’m not sure what’s in store for me there.

My first week was hell. Sorry for being frank, but it was really a hell. I was designated with four different subjects to handle and three different year levels to teach. Preparations for lessons, student’s attitude and time management made me very sick.

I don’t have any experience in teaching and I was not disciplined in that certain field that’s why I really find it hard and challenging. I was about to quit. But fortunately I did not.

GETTING USED TO THE SHOES I AM IN
The preliminary period was indeed a struggle. Let’s just put it this way, I’m still on my coping-up period then.
Then here comes the semi-finals. In this term, I can say that I became more acquainted with the process in the institution and with the student’s behavior as well. In this period, I learned an important technique in teaching. And that is “I don’t just learn and study the lesson for next meeting, it is also essential for me to study my students’ attitude and figure out what kind of attention they are in need of”.

I’ve imposed a strict attention in the attendance of my students and the elimination of their quiz-cheating habit. Perhaps many times I was hated for doing such strict implementation, but this is the only way that I can tell them that “if you want to be treated like college students, then act like one”.

I became closer to some students especially my advisory class. They are frequently misunderstood by some. But let me rephrase this line “it’s not just about the lesson you prepare; sometimes it’s the kind of attention they need that matters”.

SO WHAT’S NEXT?
I’ll be focusing in the Marketing field next semester and will not be handling a subject anymore. When the semester was about to start, all I wished for is for it semester to finish so that I can get rid of my teaching loads and start doing business correspondence. Tables were turned, now, I only wish that this semester will be lengthened so that I can spend more time teaching and bonding with my students.

I did not have any plans before to pursue a career in the academe, but because of what I experienced in this first job of mine, I really want to continue educating students. May be not now, I still I have more time to prepare so that the quality of my teaching will improve more. One thing is for sure: Sir Paul will be back and will pursue his career in teaching. :D

TO MY STUDENTS
As what I’ve read on a blog site, according to Dr. Torralba: Learning cannot be provided by any institution, not even teachers. It is something personal, the least thing a teacher can do is to give his students a reason to learn; it’s called motivation.

It’s all up to you if you learned something from me, as what Dr. Torralba said, “Learning is something personal”.

Don’t depend your learning solely on teachers because “teachers just open the door; it’s up to you to let yourself in”.

Study hard and be not contended in what you learn inside your four-walled classroom. Self-explore and read books. If the institution can just give you lemons, then you might as well make some lemonade out of it.

Thank you for making my first full-time job something that's worth remembering. See you around.(Sorry I can't tag everyone)

This is the Official Start

Expect: Paul Adrian R. Henson's
  •  Important and momentous events
  •  Peak of emotions
  •  Views on Topics
  •  and other stories...

Like what I said in my previous post, I've created a blog before but it did not materialized. Maybe because I'm not into writing then and I don't have the luxury of time and inspiration to sit down and write a story or document an event.

I hope by this time, I can update this site regularly.

I want to be remembered even if I'm gone, besides, death is permanent. Atleast my descendants(if there will be) have something to read and have an idea what I experienced and even felt on a certain part in my life.

I also would like to document every important events that I experienced.

I also would like to document the people that come and go, and even those who stays that made me more inspired to update this blog.

I'm only human with the poor memory, and this blog is an aid for my disability. haha I'd like to voice out my opinions on views or on certain people, afterall, there is always freedom in blogging.

I don't know what came up into mind, why do I'm involving myself in this blog thing. Perhaps I'm into writing right now or I became inspired by someone else. Whatever is the reason, enjoy my blog.
